Chelsea Defeats West Brom 2-1

Andres Villas-Boas, Chelsea FC Manager

After a poor showing in the first half against West Brom, Andre Villas-Boas reportedly challenged his squad during the break by saying, ‘Show me you’re good enough’.

Andre Villas-Boas appealed to Chelsea fans to get behind their team after his side were booed off at half-time in his first match in charge at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea was booed off the field after an extremely poor first half against West Brom on Saturday and trailed 1-0 at the break courtesy of a Shane Long strike.

‘Last year I was whistled at Porto and the season ended with four trophies and no more boos…In our game we need support and tranquillity. We suffered a goal in the fourth minute and people need to be behind us all the time’, said Villas-Boas.

Chelsea FC claimed their first Premier League win under new manager Andre Villas-Boas with a narrow 2-1 win over West Brom Albion at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea boss, Andres Villas-Boas gave his men a first-half team talk that inspired victory over West Brom as Florent Malouda struck a late winner.

The French star stated, ‘The boss asked if we were willing to show other clubs we are a championship contender. Are we ready to change things? It was a simple message. We had to take more risks and play with more character’.

Villas-Boas stated, ‘It is just the players’ talent that makes the difference. Their mental attitude for the second half was good’.

Romelu Lukaku will soon make his Chelsea debut after his move from Anderlecht on Friday.
