Chelsea 2-0 Marseille

Chelsea turned around their downward spiral of defeats behind in the Carling Cup and Premier League by defeating Marseille in Champions League play on Tuesday.

Chelsea got off to a great start with an early goal by John Terry on 7 minutes.

Just before the half hour, the second goal was scored by Anelka, rolling the shot into the bottom right of the net.

With Lampard and Drogba missing, the team played a stronger first half and weaker second half. Didier Drogba is expected to start in Chelsea’s upcoming match against Arsenal.

John Terry stated that Chelsea should have scored more goals, saying “Second half we had a few chances to make it three or four but fair play to them, they came out and we didn’t start the brightest in the second half, which is disappointing from our point of view, but we stayed solid and kept a clean sheet

‘We’d have liked to have got a third and killed the game off but it was not to be. They had a lot of possession. I think with Sunday in mind we took our foot off the gas a little bit and saved a bit of energy for the weekend.’

Next up, Arsenal.
